Statement:

"Since pursuing cinematography in my 4 years of the BA (Hons) Film course at Edinburgh Napier University, my mind and heart have become nurtured by my eyes appetite for visual storytelling. In all creative and technical decisons between the camera's sensor and the light, I hold pride in scoping out a style that services performance and emotion. My achievements and failures throughout my studies and employment shape me into a proactive, dependable and grounded worker, now ready to demonstrate this within cinematography-related departments. To continue absorbing technical knowledge and collaborating professionally, I am looking for opportunities as a camera/video or lighting trainee and placements with UK based rental companies.

My process of inquiry for preserving those novel blips that emerge around me is still finding its true character, and therefore, a stylistic or thematic link between my works is still being explored with each photograph. Unlike my photographs, I hope my cinematography can never be categorised stylistically, because a healthy film collaboration should open an unlimited door of possibilities. As I continue refining my craft as a DOP at university, I am eager to foster trustful relationships with UK-based directors and production designers, endeavouring to construct authentic imagery that feeds into a curated visual language."

Beyond embracing work experiences, I am building my ethos, taste and identity as a director of photography. Visual storytelling was not my inborn passion, but rather an incidental career path which I discovered in college, which has since enriched my life with curiosity, appreciation, and self-assurance. "What makes images interesting and emotionally engrossing?" is a question which both fills my mind as a viewer and which I endeavour to crystallise through my visual practices. Hence, scanning people and places through my 35mm camera over the years has proven a core aspect of my artistic method. By staring and observing, taking photos anchors me mentally in the present moment, sharpening my critical eye for seeing the relationship between form and subject and pursuing the various ways of making harmonious images.
